Clay County Set to Host the First Spikeball Challenger of the Year

CLAY COUNTY, FL - Clay County, Florida will host the first Spikeball Challenger of the year on April 1st-2nd thanks to a partnership between the Florida Roundnet and Spikeball Inc., Clay County and Airstream Ventures.


Plantation Sports Complex in Fleming Island will host the two day long event.


The event will kick off on Saturday, April 1st with open tournament play in the following divisions: intermediate, contender, premier, women’s, free agent and high school. Following play will be an awards ceremony and after party. The same schedule applies for Sunday with the mixed intermediate and advanced divisions competing.

“We are excited about bringing the Florida Roundnet Open to Clay County,” said Dom Orlando, founder of Florida Roundnet Association- the governing organization for the sport of roundnet in Florida. “North Florida is a key market to help grow the sport so we are thankful for all the work of the Clay County team, for organizing this Open Championship.”


What started as a grassroots backyard game for fun with family and friends has now grown into an international sport.


“We look forward to welcoming Spikeball competitors from all over the state to Clay County,” said Commissioner Mike Cella, who also serves as the Tourist Development Council Chair. “Hosting sporting events like this inspires our community to stay active and have fun outdoors. Tournaments put our destination in front of new audiences of people that hopefully will return for another visit.”
