Pro Motocross Event to be Hosted in Jacksonville

MX Sports Pro Racing and NBC Sports have selected WW Ranch Motocross Park to host the inaugural Florida National motocross event on June 22, 2019 as part of the 48th season of the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series.

“The southeast has long been a hotbed for the sport of motocross, with a significant number of competitors calling the Sunshine State home, and we are committed to ensuring the region has a presence in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “WW Ranch was a terrific venue for the USGP last year and received rave reviews from both the U.S. and European riders. It’s always been our hope to eventually make a return to Florida, and this track will surely become an immediate favorite amongst racers and fans alike.”

This is the second time WW Ranch has hosted a nationally televised motocross event. The facility hosted the final round of the 2017 FIM MXGP season, which had a $2 million economic impact on Duval County. As part of the bid process, WW Ranch partnered with Airstream Ventures and Visit Jacksonville to aid in securing the event in Jacksonville, and both will continue to assist in marketing and event planning for the Florida National.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said, “The City of Jacksonville prides itself on recognizing the special value sports and entertainment play in our unique community. One of our community’s signature assets is the privately owned and operated WW Motocross Park. The ability to use this facility to host a world class event with national exposure is a significant achievement for Jacksonville and I look forward to our city’s residents and visitors reaping the benefits of this event and others like it.”

Jacksonville was selected to host the fifth round of the 2019 season not only because of the premier motocross track at WW Ranch, but also the extensive list of attractions that the city has to offer. Jacksonville’s beaches, world-class fishing, vibrant nightlife and coastal cuisine are just a few of the reasons to explore the city after attending the Florida National.

The 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will feature 12 rounds of races that span over 11 states. WW Ranch entered the global motocross scene after hosting the final round of the 2017 FIM MXGP season and will now bring the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship back to Florida for the first time since 1997.

“I am so excited for WW Ranch and the City of Jacksonville to be hosting this national event. Our team of Ty Petway, Airstream Ventures and Visit Jacksonville will put together a great event for our community,” said Wayne Scarborough Jr., owner of WW Ranch Motocross Park. “I want to thank the MX Sports team for their support as we work to make this event in world-class and showcase Jacksonville to the nation on NBC.”
